Au cœur de l’oral et l’apprentissage en littératie (CORAL)

![]()
Au cœur de l’oral et l’apprentissage en littératie (CORAL) is a toolkit designed to support educators in developing students’ oral communication and literacy skills in French as a Second Language (FSL). It provides practical resources to help create language-rich learning environments where students can communicate, grow, and develop their proficiency in French.
Grounded in the principles of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), Structured Literacy, and evidence-informed instruction, CORAL provides practical tools to support assessment, instructional planning, and targeted intervention.
This toolkit was created through the collaboration of a passionate and dedicated team of FSL leaders from school boards across Ontario, united by a shared commitment to the success and confidence of both French language learners and educators.
At present, the resources have been developed primarily for students in Kindergarten to Grade 2 French Immersion with consideration for varying entry points and percentage of French instruction. The toolkit will continue to expand over time to include additional resources and support a broader range of grade levels and FSL learning contexts.
Speaking to learn, learning to communicate—that is the heart of CORAL, where every student has the right to learn French with confidence, curiosity, and pride.
