Our Commitment

At French as a Second Language (FSL), we strive to exceed all our Members, clients and customers expectations including people with disabilities. Our goal is to create a community that is inclusive of all persons and treat all our Members, clients and customers in an equitable manner. In recognition of the diverse needs of our community, FSL shall ensure that our policies, procedures and practices address dignity, independence, integration and equal opportunity. We strive to create a safe environment where everyone feels like they belong.

Accessibility statement for French as a Second Language

FSL is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards.

Measures to support accessibility

FLS has taken the following measures to ensure accessibility of transformingfsl.ca:

  • Included accessibility as part of our digital design and development processes
  • Employed formal accessibility quality assurance testing procedures and methods
  • Conducted internal and/or external accessibility assessments
  • Assigned clear accessibility targets and responsibilities on areas which requires improvements

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. Transformingfsl.ca is partially conformant with WCAG 2.0 Level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

Limitations and Alternatives

Videos

The videos displayed on our website and on our Vimeo channel may not be available with described audio. Captions may also be unavailable for some videos that are distributed or shared by our partners which reside on their own video channels, which FSL does not have the ability to control. However, users may still access its content by downloading a descriptive transcript.

PDF documents

Some of the PDF documents available for download on our site may not be fully accessible. If you require assistance with the content on these PDF documents, please feel free to contact us using the method described below.
